My journey with yoga began after I graduated from University and got my first real job in the corporate world. It was here one of my co-workers and now great friends introduced me to the Baptiste style of yoga. There was something about the powerful flow sequence, the rhythm and connection to my breath, and the empowerment I felt from the teacher’s cues. As the intensity and demands of being in the corporate world increased I found myself going to yoga more and more. The biggest challenge for me was to drop my competitive nature in the yoga room that had built up from years of sports. Once I stopped focusing on everyone else I truly started to see how the benefits I experienced on my mat translated into my life. My initial connection to the practice was physical but what keeps me coming back are the mental benefits – feeling more present and connected to what is going on around me. The benefits from yoga combined with the power and cardio workout of a spin class have been a great addition for me.
I recently relocated to Pittsburgh from Calgary, Alberta with my husband. I am excited to be part of the studio and look forward to meeting you!
